Achievement and wellbeing are not the same

THRIVING THURSDAY

As a late-diagnosed autistic woman, one of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that achievement and well-being are not always the same thing.

For years, my academic accomplishments led others to assume I was coping. In reality, I was working twice as hard to navigate environments that were overwhelming to my nervous system.

Many neurodivergent people become experts at appearing successful while silently struggling.

This is why conversations about autism must move beyond stereotypes and recognise the diverse experiences of autistic adults, particularly women and those from underrepresented communities.

Thriving begins when we stop judging ourselves solely by external outcomes and start understanding the unique ways our minds work.

This Thriving Thursday, I encourage you to reflect on progress that may not appear on a CV but has transformed your life.

Sometimes, self-understanding is the greatest achievement of all.
