🌿 THRIVING THURSDAY
Sometimes thriving with ADHD looks very ordinary: one breath, one keyword and one small pause before speaking.
We need to stop treating every interruption as a character flaw. ADHD-related impulsivity can make conversational turn-taking difficult. The impact on others still matters—but so does understanding what is happening.
Try this:
1. Notice the urge to speak.
2. Take one breath.
3. Hold onto one keyword.
4. Wait, then ask: “Can I add something?”
If you interrupt, repair without tearing yourself down: “Sorry—please finish.”
And if you are the conversation partner, use a calm cue. Leave space for the person to rejoin. Ask what support actually helps.
Thriving is not about never getting it wrong. It is about finding strategies, repairing when needed and being given room to practise without shame.
What helps you hold onto a thought while someone else is speaking?
Save this post and share it with someone who needs a more compassionate way to talk about ADHD.
